He steps closer so no one can hear, but she gets the sensation that all eyes are on them, and her head swims with the thought their secret is out and she has the most handsome man in the room on her arm.

This looks like little Steve Rogers, sneaking a puppy into the barracks with him and I LOVE IT
“Bloody hell, Steve.” Peggy curses and quickly ties the flaps of her tent.
As stupid as his idea was, Steve at least had the brain to smuggle his package into her tent – which no one dares to walk into without her clear approval. Not even Phillips.
“Sorry.” Steve’s ears turn bright pink, but his face shows little to no repentance. “I couldn’t leave him there.”
Peggy sighs, exasperated.
She starts to wonder if perhaps she’s the stupid one for finding it endearing.
She’s tough, made from stronger material than half of the unit, but apparently not immune to Steve Roger’s unconscious charm. Especially not when it’s backed by a small puppy, struggling to wiggle his way out of Steve’s backpack.
“And what am I supposed to do with it?”
“A bowl of water would be great, for starters.” Steve grins at her.
In that exact moment the puppy breaks free and waddles straight to Peggy, making tiny squeaking sounds and waggling its tail. Then runs back to Steve when he reaches his hand out.
Peggy glares at Steve, who at least has the decency to look down this time, somewhat contrite.
A minute later a small, tin bowl of water is placed on the ground, which puppy attacks with great enthusiasm. A bar of chocolate lands in Steve’s lap.
He looks up at Peggy, surprised.
She sits down next to him, not too close, but enough for their knees to nearly touch.
“If we name him Chester, Colonel will only yell for a year, but won’t court martial us.”
