The New Porn Blogs

Something that i’ve seen happening in my notifications this week is a new kind of porn blog interacting with my posts, and i want to explain WHY its so important to block them.

In the past all that would happen if a porn blog would follow you is just that, they’d follow you. It was all to do with google algorithyms where if a porn blog was shown as ‘linked’ or following a legitimate site/blog then it increased the place they came in the google searches. Great if you are one of those scam websites that gets people to click on links that either plant malware or are just shady as fuck.
Porn blogs were also sometimes shut down without warning so all the scammers hard work was over and gone. Good for us, not good for them.
Most of these blogs were just stolen gifs/videos from other porn blogs anyway. If you thought gif stealing was bad/rife in the geek/nerd fandoms, just have a peep at the porn blogs.

Well a lot of the search engines etc caught onto this and built controls into their software, so they found a new way of getting (or at least trying to get) people to click on links to take them off of the tumblr site. This is by finding a random post from a legitimate blogger, which could be about anything, and either deleting the entire content of the post and adding in some ridiculous comment like ‘For more fun follow this link’ with a hyperlink off of tumblr, or if its a photo that in any way is either fun/a meme/or a little nsfw, they keep that in place and just add their link like above. Scroll down their blog and literally every single post will be a reblog and have exactly the same comment on, getting you to click and take you off site.

What does this matter i hear you ask? Well, when it comes to reporting a post, it helps to confuse the tumblr bots/staff as to what’s being reported… the comment or the original post? This means that when a bunch of posts are reported, they are all coming from different originators, this will make tumblr staff’s life even harder, and legitimate blogs are at risk of someone hitting ‘deactivate blog’ in the admin settings, meaning YOU COULD LOOSE YOUR ENTIRE BLOG BECAUSE SOME ASSHOLE PORN BOT REBLOGGED FROM YOU.

So don’t ignore this kind of thing, if you see one of these stupid reblogs (the bots very rarely actually follow you anymore), BLOCK THEM RIGHT THERE AND THEN.

heads up, this is happening again and it’s affecting gif/graphic makers that post links to their sources in their captions. don’t report porn bot reblogs, just block and if you make content, do not link to anything outside of tumblr.

ShieldShock Voting Day Imagine-

Darcy was nervous about the election, truly believing it to be the most important of her lifetime so far.  The long wait in line was both a blessing and a curse.  She wanted a tsunami-like turnout, an epic Blue wave to stem the flow of indecent hatred in the country.  But she was wound tighter every minute and with every fear and doubt of a good outcome.  She fidgeted with her Star of David necklace again and again.

Hearing someone nearby comment that it was ‘stupid to wait and that voting isn’t THAT important’ caused Darcy to snap into action.  Words flowed from her, as unstoppable as her will and her infinite faith in political science.

Five minutes later, Darcy stopped her impassioned rant as the kid held his hands up and muttered a surly, “okay, okay, just kidding.”  He frowned, but stayed in line.

Darcy nodded and tried to stifle her anxiety as she turned back to reclaim her place.  People had moved more quickly than she expected and she was unsure where to go.  For a horrifying second, she feared that she would have to go to the end of the long line to avoid seeming like a line jumper.

A tall, impressively-built man with a baseball cap pulled low stepped to the side to get her attention and gestured. “Right here, Miss.”

Darcy’s voice trembled as she scurried to her place, “thanks!  I didn’t want to seem like I was trying to jump line, didn’t mean to get carried away…”

Her words trailed off as the gorgeous man lifted his chin and gave her an admiring smile. “Ya got nothing to be sorry for, Miss. Voting is important, a right worth defending.”  He was handsome, almost startlingly so.

“Guh.  That’s what I should have said instead of losing my cool.”  She glanced back to the guy she’d chastised and stifled a rueful giggle as he paled and turned away as though afraid of further lecturing.

The man in the ball cap shook his head, “nah… You were amazing! I learned a lot from listening in.”  He paused, eyeing her with open admiration. “You know your stuff and you made a good case. Impressive.”

The warmth in his voice caught Darcy’s attention.  Never one to miss an opportunity to get to know a godly-looking man, she held out her hand to him, “Darcy Lewis, Political Scientist with ‘Human Rights Watch’ and woman with a semi-classified past.  And, you are?” Her eyes gleamed with appreciation as the stranger grinned again.

His smile was gorgeous and his manner calming. “I’m Steve.  And now I’m… curious about your classified past.”  His lips twisted as he held back another grin.

Darcy winked at him, laughter sparkling from her.

He smiled again, with obvious awkwardness- as though he didn’t flirt often.  They were getting close to the door.  Steve blurted, “Can I buy you a coffee after we vote?”

Darcy’s eyes narrowed.  “Maybe.  Um… where do you stand on immigration or the environment? Do you support human rights, or are you wrong?”  Darcy was out of patience with people who supported inhumane, indecent policies.  She prayed that she and this man would have ideals in common.

With a startled laugh, Steve replied, “my Ma was an Irish immigrant, came here to make herself a better life and give her all to making this country better.  Everyone except the Native Americans share a similar past. We need good laws, but America is greater because of its rich and diverse background.” He suppressed a chuckle as Darcy audibly sighed happy agreement and took a step closer to him.  “Environment?  We need to do a better job protecting our home.  It’s gone downhill over the past hundred years, by a lot.”  He cocked his head as he waited for her to say something in return.

Darcy only gave him an odd look.

She realized who he was and wasn’t fazed, though she needed a second or two to absorb the knowledge.  Unlike many women, Darcy understood the humanity of heroes.

“I believe wholeheartedly in human rights.”  Steve added softly, “I do all I can to support them.”

“You can buy me all the coffee.  And I might propose marriage if you keep talking like that.”  Darcy smiled up at him, her expression penetrating and saucy.  “Sorry, Captain. I’ll save the marriage talk.  First, let’s vote.  Then- coffee- and I’ll give you more of a chance to impress me. So far, so good. Keep it up, big guy.”

“I’ll do my best,” Steve laughed hopefully and held the door to their polling location open for her.
